CN TOWER. FACTS ABOUT TORONTO'S TOWERING LANDMARK

THE CN TOWER

The CN Tower is Toronto’s greatest and most well-known landmark.  The CN Tower stands majestically over Toronto’s bustling downtown, and millions of people across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) can view the impressive structure from their homes and places of work.

Situated next to the Rogers Centre stadium, the CN Tower offers a brilliant look out across southern Ontario, and on a clear day, even the USA can be seen from the lofty tower’s observation deck.  Below are some interesting CN Tower facts….

Top 3 CN Tower Facts

CN Tower Fact Number 1:

After 40 months of work, construction on the CN Tower was completed in 1976 by the Canadian National (CN) Railway at a cost of $63 million.  The CN Tower is currently owned and operated by the Canada Lands Company (CLC), which in turn is owned by the Government of Canada.  In a very real sense therefore, the CN Tower belongs to all Canadians.

CN Tower Fact Number 2

The CN Tower, with a height of over 1815 feet, is recognized by both the Guinness Book of World records and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, as one of the tallest towers and buildings in the world.

CN Tower Fact Number 3

2 million visitors from across the world visit the CN Tower each and every year. To handle their needs, anywhere from 400 to 550 staff members are employed at the Tower

THE CN TOWER RESTAURANT:  THE 360 RESTAURANT

One of the most popular attractions at the CN Tower is the revolving “360 Restaurant”.  It takes a little bit over 70 minutes for the restaurant to fully revolve, and patrons get to enjoy their meal from 1151 feet above ground level.  The 360 Restaurant’s grand opening took place in 1995, almost 20 years after the CN Tower itself opened its doors.  The 360 restaurant has a capacity of 400 people.

CN TOWER SKY POD

From 1465 feet above ground, you can see a wonderful 360 view of Toronto

EDGEWALK

Are you crazy enough to take a walk outside on the CN Tower roof???

CN TOWER CLIMB

Charity events, like those put on by the United Way, often have CN Tower Climb Events where participants can walk up the tower (from the inside)..... if their legs permit!
